Condyloma (condylomaacuminata) is genital warts caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). They are small growths located on genitals, in perineum and anus.
Getting an infection, which is the cause of genital warts, is sexually transmitted. In addition, the virus can be transmitted from mother to child during childbirth.
There are discovered over 100 types of HPV, about 40 of them are sexually transmitted. As a rule, disease occurs without clinical symptoms and not diagnosed. Rashes appear only after reducing general and local immunity. The risk of HPV infection during lifetime is 80%. With the use of PCR studies in 50-60% of women and men identify HPV DNA, but only on 10-15% of them genital warts appear during the life.
